I was born and brought up at Plas Newydd (now a National Trust house) on the banks of The Menai Strait on the Isle of Anglesey.
My childhood was spent surrounded by dramatic seas, big skies and rugged coastlines along with beautiful paintings most notable of which was an enormous mural by Rex Whistler in the formal dining room. As I get older I realise just how much these things are deeply ingrained in me and influence my work hugely.
I have painted for most of my life but it was only after having a family and having set up an artist’s supply shop and framers along with my husband that I decided to become a painter.
